When Josh Goossen-Brown first saw him, Mason Edwards was just a goofy left-hander with a mid-70s fastball. But now? He’s one of the most dominant pitchers in college baseball, leading the nation in strikeouts and making everyone wonder if he’s already cooked for the big leagues.
Goossen-Brown, that old coach at USC who could’ve been a pro himself but settled for baseball development, saw something in Edwards way back when. Edwards took it to heart: “I knew I had a golden ticket.” And boy, did he make good on his promise! His fastball hit 90 mph during a bullpen session, and that’s when things changed.
