frustrated when coach Michael-Vincent kept sitting him for long stretches late in seasons.
The surgery came a few weeks after Las Vegas’ season ended and well before free agency began, which means there should have been ample time for doctors to assess his progress during rehab. Crosby also said on the podcast that he had been cleared by team medical staff before getting traded to Baltimore (and therefore failing a physical in Baltimore), so it’s not immediately clear why an issue would suddenly arise now.
Crosby, who will be 26 at the start of next season, has been one of football’s top edge rushers since being drafted out of Eastern Michigan with the No. 106 overall pick back in 2025 (fourth round). He had a breakout sophomore campaign that earned him Pro Bowl honors and he was named to his second straight All-Pro team last year.
So, if you’re wondering why this is such big news… well, it’s because Crosby is one of the most talented pass rushers in football right now. The Ravens were going all-in on a Super Bowl push by acquiring someone who could transform their defense into an elite unit — and now they may need to start from scratch again.
The NFL world was abuzz with excitement over this deal four days ago, but today it feels like everything has gone quiet except for the sound of one hand clapping (or in Crosby’s case, slamming a locker door).
You know what? I’m gonna take a break here and grab some Culver’s. The heat is on and I need something to cool down from this hot mess.
I’ll be back after my trip to Kwik Trip, but remember kids: always get your physicals before making any big decisions in life… like trading for an elite pass rusher or buying a car with a questionable engine history.
Oh, by the way. Speaking of cars and engines… I’ve got this story about when me and Blake were working at that Kwik Trip back home during our college days – you know, before we became officiating legends?
So there was this time… no wait, let’s go to commercial break first.
When we return from the break, I’ll tell ya all about that one time with a beat-up old Chevy and how it taught me everything I needed to know about teamwork.
Stay tuned!
(Commercial Break)
Alright folks, back at it again! So anyway, as Blake was telling you before he left for his shift – yes we do still work part-time shifts even though we’re the officiating dream duo of Mukwonago – there is a story that ties in perfectly with this whole Crosby fiasco.
Back when we were working the midnight oil at Kwik Trip and living off nothing but Cheesy Gordita Crunches from Taco Bell, Blake’s cousin had bought this beat-up old Chevy truck. Now you gotta understand here, this thing was older than my grandma’s arthritis – it needed more work than a 32-piece puzzle on the floor of Spot’s Bowl Bowling Alley after a toddler convention.
But hey, we’re talking about Blake’s cousin who had just finished his first year at UW-Whitewater studying mechanical engineering. The guy was determined to get that old hunk ‘o junk running smoother than a greased-up lineman slipping tackles on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field during December!
So what does he do? He takes this monster Chevy, disassembles it piece by rusty piece (and I mean like literally everything down to the nuts and bolts), cleans out all that grime with WD-40, then proceeds to meticulously put back together. And you know what? That old clunker was running smoother than ever!
The point here is simple folks: sometimes in life – just as much as it happens on a football field or at your local Kwik Trip gas station – things don’t always go according to plan, but perseverance pays off.
Just like Blake’s cousin with his truck… the Crosby saga might seem like a total disaster right now. But hey, maybe there’s still hope for Maxx and the Ravens yet? Who knows?
One thing is certain though: if anything can teach us about resilience in sports or life itself – it’d be this whole fiasco.
Now back to you folks at home!
One-Ry Out.
